I mean call me crazy, but I don’t understand the logic of bombing a country while at the same time granting asylum to the residents of that country because they’re fleeing a war zone.

Can we not just have a few years without a war, a recession or a pandemic?

We shouldn’t be supporting Trump vanity projects.

Does anyone even know what the objective is now? The Ayatollah is dead, what are the bombs for?

  3. They buried the lede; 22% of Britons support joining the war, about the same number as the US.

This is either insanity or ignorance, the US and Israel already bombed the underground facilities that were producing enriched uranium in Iran.

There was no need for urgency to strike Iran. Israel just took advantage of the political situation to destroy a country they saw as a threat

Let’s hope to f*** our precious few remaining sane UK politicians are listening

22% in favour of bombing Iran is insane to me.

Ignoring the issues with the general history of this kind of thing just not being very good, surely on a pragmatic level, the US and Israel have like… they’ve got it covered? Is it really worth the money and risk to get some RAF jets in the air to lob a few bombs, on top of the quintillions of bombs and missiles that the US and Israel are throwing at Tehran constantly? Just beating a dead horse at that point.

He just ruined the last 3 years of getting things back in order, fuck trump, the wotsit faced man baby

On the one hand, the UK citizens say no to joining the war in Iran

However the MAGA-Lites say we should join the war and we don’t want to upset them.

Good, but it will be interesting what the polls say once the petrol and energy prices increase.

I’m not against helping the Iranian people get control of their country. We should be using it to get more help for Ukraine from the US.

I would hope so. the most overtly pointless military exercise in modern history, although there’s plenty to chose from.

back in 2015 all the major powers signed a deal with iran to limit its aims for nuclear weapons, which included inspections from the IAEA. Roll on a few years to 2018 and trump decides that rather than it being global deal, its now “obamas” deal and therefore has to leave the deal and apply sanctions back on iran. Even though at this point Iran was in compliance.

Iran decides to no longer stick to the deal, years go by and then the week of a horrific allegations of child abuse by donald trump, he decides to start a war.

  11. Why does the BBC daytime TV never run with this story? I think it is much more sensationalist to talk about his tiffs with Trump over not joining offensive strikes on Iran in an effort to stay on the fringes of what he believes could be an illegal war, good on him

Trump wanted a peace prize for saying Russia are bad for starting a war and goes and starts a war…plus Venezuela. Champion level hypocrisy. And Britain sends aid to the defending country in Ukraine then sends aid to the aggressors America and the worlds biggest hypocrites Israel who are committing genocide openly while criticizing an “oppressive regime”….. Anyone buys into this anymore you’re a divvy

  13. ArchdukeToes on

A war where they’ve explicitly stated they have no plan except to keep bombing? The entire thing is just another distraction from Trump’s problems at home.

  14. HoodedArcher64 on

On radio 4 pm they were saying that despite Keir Starmer choosing not to get involved which is in line with the general consensus from the polls, most Britons still disapprove of his actions relating to the war. I’m not a huge Starmer fan but many people will just never support him, even if he does what they want, and I’m not sure why.

  15. Queasy-Force7730 on

So we just sit back and do nothing? Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate what you’re saying. There’s an element of “fuck it, let them figure it out themselves” but that doesn’t really work in truly oppressive regimes like Iran. And it’d be another thing if they just kept their oppressive bullshit to themselves like North Korea, but Iran has a widespread net of fuckery (literally the arrests announced today from the met) so what are you meant to do? The regime are an absolute bunch of cunts to their own people but also are intent on being a bunch of cunts overseas too.

What I’m saying is that sometimes you can wait for an internal revolution but it’s not always possible when the government apparatus can just kill you en masse immediately.

Sure, there’ll be a power vacuum but maybe there’s a future where we don’t have to worry about the government of the country swearing death upon another country or persecuting women for not covering their heads etc

  16. Let’s save the money by not joining Israel’s war just to appease the orange dipshit in the whitehouse, it’s the war Netanyahu has been begging the US to start for decades and America has finally got a president stupid enough to agree to it.

Let’s use the money that would have otherwise been used to bomb Iran on reducing the effects on energy bills etc.

    > Keir Starmer’s decision to limit British involvement in Donald Trump’s attack on Iran has the backing of almost half of voters

Interesting, so is that a majority then? Was there a vote held? I am wondering how many would actually want this action. I wish this type of vote had been held for the Iraq debacle.

The propagandists on Reddit are actually hilarious at this point.
    Really subtle.
Maybe the nuance of Britishness is lost on them and they think people think like they do over here.

  19. And yet all I see in the newspapers is how Stamer has made Britain an embarrassment for not joining in when Trump first asked.

Reform and the Conservatives are chomping at the bit to send British soldiers to die in an illegal foreign war.

Stamers a know but I for one am glad he said no.

  20. i hear alot about uk voting… but i live in the uk and havent been asked to vote on this..i guess this poll is click bait…
