President Lee Jae Myung warned the ruling camp not to assume it can act as it pleases simply because it holds power, saying it must never underestimate the collective wisdom of the public.

In a social media post Saturday, Lee wrote that holding authority also means bearing an equal level of responsibility.

He said a president’s greatest responsibility is to unite the people, noting that while a candidate represents one side during an election, the president must represent the entire nation once in office.

Lee added that decisions on public issues require discussion, consensus-building and compromise whenever possible, emphasizing that differing opinions carry their own validity rather than being simply right or wrong.

He warned that treating one’s own view as absolute truth while dismissing others as false can lead to extreme confrontation and eventual failure.

Lee also said the political interests of individuals or groups should never outweigh the nation’s future or public welfare, stressing that the public, which he described as having evolved into a form of collective intelligence, cannot be deceived.
