Foreign Minister Cho Hyun asked Bahrain for support in helping South Korean nationals return home from the Middle Eastern country during a phone call with his Bahraini counterpart.
The Foreign Ministry said Saturday that Cho and Bahrain’s top diplomat, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, discussed the recent situation in the Middle East during the call.
Cho told Al Zayani that the South Korean government is mobilizing all available resources to ensure the safety of its citizens, noting that about 120 South Koreans in Bahrain hope to return home as soon as possible.
He also conveyed condolences and solidarity over civilian casualties and damage to civilian facilities reported in six Gulf countries, including Bahrain.
According to the ministry, Al Zayani said airports, refineries and hotels in Bahrain had suffered significant damage from Iranian attacks and asked for South Korea’s attention and support.
