Sorry about the English, I’m just a university student from Latvia who lives in Hamar right now.
Had a package shipped to me by my mom (I formatted the package on her behalf via Latvia Post) and it’s been incredibly slow despite delivery being said to take 8-9 days, and it arrived in Oslo a mere 1 day after shipping out. Customs documents were accepted, but I haven’t recieved any news about import tax or anything along those lines and I’m getting worried since it’s not a purchase. Should I just be patient and wait?
(Another thing is that for some reason, after clearing customs, the size of the package is said to be 10x10x10cm, but I know for a fact that this isn’t the case. Were the workers just being lazy? I’m nor sure)
Usually Posten had never been this slow for me (I’ve been living here since August), but right now it’s weirdly slow – even my package from Aliexpress has been sitting around for 3 weeks and only now did I recieve a shipping date of Tuesday.

For some reason when my family sends me packages it always gets stuck at customs for up to a week. If it’s faster, it’s a pleasant surprise.
Mail delivery is shockingly crappy for a European capital.
Kinda. It is on the long side of the norm, but not unheard of.
Could have been inspected manually by Tollen from feb 25th – mar 3rd, and since nothing is usually handled during the weekend I would just label this as really bad timing.
Customs can easily take a week or two. It’s the biggest cause of delay on any shipment i’ve had.
Posten will email you as soon as customs processing is complete if you need to pay anything, provided they have your email. If not you pay before you pick up the parcel at the post office.
Might have arrived at the destination, but they haven’t scanned it yet.
Or arriving Monday.
A week stuck in customs is not unusual, and is not really Postens fault. After that it depends on where in the country the package is going, but up to a week or so is not too unusual.
Just be glad it’s not helthjem, they seem to take a week minimum after clearing customs and then don’t deliver helt hjem…
I ordered something from DK that was sent on 22 February and arrived to Norway on 24 Feb. It still has not been delivered. That is however Fedex, not Posten… so yeah, not unheard of
Everything you try to bring into the country needs to be taxed (minimum mva), so if the package is not pre-declared or is marked with content and value customs have to manually process the package. Sometimes that includes opening it at checking the content.
Read this for the rules when it comes to gifts.

Sounds about right to me. North of Norway here.
Probably customs related. Remember that Norway is not in the EU.
The “Lørenskog” stop is customs. They held it for checking, there was probably some missing documentation, or it was chosen for a “random check”. It just being there for a week indicates that they figured it out.
Norway is not in EU as you know, so the package has to go through the customs and the same steps as if it would have been shipped from the USA, even if it’s just a package shipped from Sweden, Latvia or wherever.
