A one-stop shop can be a crucial tool in simplifying the renovation journey. It serves as a central hub where stakeholders, private citizens and enterprises, can receive comprehensive information and support throughout the various stages of their energy renovation projects. One-stop shops typically offer technical, administrative, legal, and financial assistance through online resources, but also by allowing for discussions on the phone, at the counter or on-site.

The Energy Efficiency Directive and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive lay down key principles to support the creation and operation of one-stop shops across the EU.

Facts on one-stop shops

As part of the Energy Package, published on 10 March 2026, the Commission issued a Recommendation with practical guidance on the establishment of one-stop shops services for energy efficiency and energy performance of buildings. It sets out different models of one-stop shops services for energy efficiency and the energy performance of buildings, as there is no one-size fits all solutions. The objective of the guidance is to enable a reflection and support national, regional and local authorities in establishing networks of one-stop shops that better fit their context.
