:: Police investigate a bus fire that killed several people in a small town in western Switzerland

“At that location, emergency services–police, paramedics, and firefighters–found a bus engulfed in flames. Injured individuals had exited the bus. The firefighters extinguished the blaze in several stages, and we have now determined that there are deceased individuals inside the bus. We will have to wait for my colleagues in the investigation to determine the number and identity of the deceased.”
“At the moment, we have evidence suggesting a deliberate act by someone who was on the bus. However, the investigation must continue to confirm precisely what happened.”
The Fribourg police said three people were taken to a hospital and prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
