Snow, Rain Forecast Nationwide, Heavy Snow in Gangwon Mountains

Snow or rain is expected in parts of the country Thursday evening, with some areas in the Gyeongsang and Gangwon provinces likely to receive thunder, lightning and hail.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, precipitation will continue through Friday afternoon on the east coast and in mountainous areas of Gangwon and the Gyeongsang region.

Mountainous areas of Gangwon are expected to receive up to 20 centimeters of additional snow. One to three centimeters is forecast along the Gangwon east coast and one to five centimeters in mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang Province.

Ulleung Island and Dokdo are forecast to receive three to eight centimeters of snow, and five to 20 millimeters of rain is expected in the cities of Busan and Ulsan.

Friday morning lows will range from minus two to four degrees Celsius, similar to those of Thursday, with Seoul expected to start the day at around two degrees, and daytime highs will range from 6 to 14 degrees.

Frost is expected in inland areas on Friday and Saturday, and the agency advised caution when managing crops.
