Poland launches the first module of its anti drone shield along the Belarus border, signaling a broader push to harden eastern defenses.
Poland launched the first module of the counter-drone system on the border with Belarus, Interior Minister Marcin Kerwiński said on March 12.
The anti-drone shield consists of radars and radio scanners that will detect and intercept airborne objects that pose a threat to security. Kerwiński noted that the system was fully developed by Polish engineers.
The Polish authorities say they will launch five more such modules. According to projections, this will protect the entire eastern border, including the maritime section.

Also, deputy interior minister Czesław Mrochek announced an increase in the border guard service by three thousand personnel.
Earlier materials mentioned tunnels allegedly built by Belarus to ferry illegal migrants into Poland; about 180 migrants could have used such routes, but most of them were detained.
