Under the command of Major-General Georgi Vazov and under the supreme leadership of King Ferdinand I, the Bulgarian troops carried out an assault that remains in history as one of the most daring and brilliant successes of the Bulgarian arms.
Edirne Fortress was modernized just before the war and defended by around 60,000 Ottoman soldiers, hundreds of cannons and dozens of machine guns under the command of Shukri Pasha. A system of forts, trenches and fortifications turned the city into a powerful bastion of Ottoman power in Eastern Thrace. According to gen. Kolmar von der Goltz The Edirne fortress is impregnable to foreign forces, as only the German army would succeed in capturing the fortress and that after a 6-month siege. Nevertheless, the Second Bulgarian Army gradually tightened the siege and prepared the decisive blow.
On the night of March 13, the Bulgarian units launched a powerful assault. Key forts fall one after another, and the Bulgarian soldiers show extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice. By morning, the defenses were breached and the Bulgarian army invaded the city. The Bulgarian flag, raised by non-commissioned officer Miho Georgiev over the Selim Mosque, flies over Edirne. Tens of thousands of Ottoman soldiers were captured, as well as hundreds of cannons and huge quantities of weapons. The victory at Edirne practically decided the outcome of the war and stunned military observers in Europe, who described it as one of the most impressive assaults of the modern era.
The feat of the Bulgarian army at Edirne remains an eternal symbol of the national ideal, military honor and the willingness to sacrifice the Bulgarian people. Let us remember the heroes who wrote this glorious page in the history of the Kingdom of Bulgaria with their blood. 🇧🇬

И какво се случва след това? Важно е да спечелиш войната, а не отделни битки.
След това обаче губим битката при Чаталджа и с това и край на идеята за Велика България…

В Едрене (Едирне, Одрин) има цял музей посветен на “подвизите” на българската армия. Изтребването на мюсюлманското население (главно турци и помаци) е документирано с множество артефакти, вкл. снимков материал. Музеят на балканските войни има паметник на храбрия [Шукри паша](https://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B5%D1%85%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%B4_%D0%A8%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8_%D0%BF%D0%B0%D1%88%D0%B0), който месеци наред успява да запази града.
Българските войски безчинстват в мюсюлмански храмове, които са превърнати в конюшни и обори. Артилерийните атаки срещу “Селимие” днес са овековачени в една от стените на джамията за да освидетелстват за престъпленията на окупационния военен режим.
“Подвигът” е началото на края на гладния немски принц с непостижими имперски мераци. Естествено комшиите не му позволяват да се изявява като велика сила и му скриват шапката, в резултат на което България плаща репарации на съюзниците.
Урокът от балканските войни не е учен от немските псевдобългарски принцове и князе, поради което страната е губеща във всяка последвала война: ПСВ, ВСВ.
Големият залък излиза прескъпо за обикновения българин: хиляди са прогонени от родните си места и страната става бежански център.
Днес, когато пак става голямото разместване на геопластове, страната трябва да върви по мъдрия път на мира. Вместо болни имперски амбиции, страната трябва да заложи на изгодни търговски и геополитически съюзи. Според мен е много полезно да създадем местен балкански геополитически проект, без териториално прекрояване, защото това винаги е довеждало до катастрофа.
