I feel like the rankings are a bit off. Bunnings as Australia’s most trusted brand? There’s a hell of a lot of cheap quality garbage there just like Kmart and target.

Bunnings, Commbank and Apple being in the trusted list is pure bullshit.

The only thing I trust those 3 to do is offer me inferior products.

  3. shows the intelligence of the average shopper when Woolworth/Coles are ranked last while Kmart/Bunnings are ranked in the top 3 even though they all practice similar sales tactics. Its basically “who’s been the in news cycle the most in the last 12 month”.

All large businesses in Australia should not be trusted at all, all sell overpriced inferior quality product with a single goal of maximising profit for shareholders and CEO bonuses. None have a moral standards, they only do community support etc for tax benefits. Where as businesses like in Japan who tried to maintain prices same in 20yrs and then recently had to increase the price by 5% due to all the inflation and the whole company leadership had to apologise for it. Those are the sort of company that you should placing ‘trust’ on.

  5. Kmart game their reviews so hard.

The amount of 4-5 star reviewed products that turn out to be total dogshit I’ve bought from there is insane.

I mean it’s a market full of mon/duo/oligopolies… flip a coin for who is most trusted this year.

  7. Just offering my perspective here, but aren’t all business out to make profit. The nature of businesses are at its core to decrease cost and maximise profit – that will always hit the consumer.

  8. Coles delivered my groceries to someone else and then refused to give me a refund. Had to do a chargeback with my bank. Absolutely worthy of least trusted.

  9. The fact that we as a nation are still bowing down to any of these brands whilst they wrought us all is wild.

It’s Ironic and makes me chuckle when people comment don’t go with Optus there bad but then suggest going with Amysim or another MVNO that uses Optus.

About as credible as ‘ole mate cooker’ raving on about COVID conspiracy…

Coles and woolies are high maintenance relationships. You have to play the points booster games, and prices often go up and down depending on discounts/specials. So you must always remember prices and shop them against each other & regularly. The game is tiring and why i think most people are down on them.

    “Woolworths bad!!”

Ok but they only make 3 cents for every dollar…

“Don’t care, I got mine, Woolworths bad!!!!!!!”

Bunnings definitely gives the illusion that you’re getting a bargain. Their marketing department are top notch.

  15. Commonwealth Bank ranked in 4th place as a most trusted brand, is suprising and puts the entire ranking methodology to question.

Also I see Kmart and BigW listed but Target is nowhere to be seen in the list.

I added a comparison table between those 3 that are in direct competition (although Target and Kmart are both owned by Wesfarmers)

    |**Rank**|**Retailer**|**Trust Standing**|
    |:-|:-|:-|
    |1|Kmart|Consistently holds 3rd place overall across all Australian brands.|
    |2|Big W|Generally ranks in the top 10 overall; showing recent upward movement.|
    |3|Target|Ranks in the top 20 overall; showing consistent improvement.|

Really need to add Bunnings as one of the most distrusted. It has a near monopoly and the prices accordingly and if Bunnings closed for 5 days the Chinese economy would haemorrhage.

  17. I don’t trust any of them – doesn’t mean I won’t and don’t shop there, it’s just that I’ve never deeply thought about

We shouldn’t like Bunnings as much as we do, but they’ve got some good points. Sure they do a lot of the same enshitification bs that the others do, but I just can’t hate them as much as I hate Colesworth

  19. Guess which corporations have better public relations teams or contractors in place?

  20. Kmart is trusted!!?? Literally the last time I went there (just because I really needed socks asap) an alarm went off and the entire store was herded out by a police officer and being told to drop everything because they found /more/ asbestos in their products being stocked!

They sell unchecked trash of no quality that is expected to break so you buy more to replace it. Kmart has a way of being super cheap upfront but always leaving you feeling taken advantage of. When that shirt you bought inevitably goes through the wash and stretches out of shape after one wear it’s not a bargain anymore.

Horrified to see Myer on the trusted list. When I worked there they did nothing but seriously understaff, screw staff over and screw customers over. Prices are almost always wrong, and we were actively coached to lie to customers and force sign ups however necessary. ie “do you want to sign up to get the offer?” But the offer was not membership exclusive. Or to just ask for details and sign them up without telling them.

Health and safety for employees non existent. I tagged a ladder as broken once after it almost collapsed under me due to bad locking mechanism and then months later found out they just moved it to a different floor to use. There is no staff training… I have so many stories about this shit company being disingenuous and manipulative. Seriously the worst place I’ve ever worked.

  22. Kmart 3rd! Bollocks!
Their products are absolutely terrible. Clothing is uncomfortable and shoddily made, (I stopped buying), electric devices only lasted a week or two, (I stopped buying) even a clothes airer lasted 3 uses before it broke. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve taken defective or poorly made products back. It’s better to buy more expensive and well made products than this slop, so I do now.
They’re only good for kitty litter and that’s it!
Target used to be better quality but there’s none around, plus I’ve heard they just stock the same Kmart crap now anyway.
    Eurgh.
