I did this trip several times, once with the regular night train (no beds) which was awful, and then a few times during the day (14-15 hours). It’s doable but the poor performance of DB has exhausted my patience. I couldn’t take the nightjet because I have a dog, and it’s considerably more expensive too.

I go often to Copenhagen for work and never paid more than 200 Frs for the round trip with EasyJet.
Something is rotten in the state of ~~Denmark~~ train travel when flying is cheaper than train.
And honestly I’m willing to pay double just to avoid dealing with DB delays.

Easy fix. Spend your holidays in Switzerland and support the local economy like I do 🙂

The article captures the essence very well. If you require (multiple) connecting trains, it’s just not fun.
As soon as there is a delay (and there will be one), the planning in the head begins:
“We’re x minutes late, will we make it not”
“Do we need a new ticket” (they often have reserved seats only on intercity trains abroad)
“What’s the best alternative line and is there still capacity”
“How do we get a (partial-) refund for the old ticket”
