Slovenia’s railway infrastructure manager, SŽ-Infrastruktura, has signed two contracts with Tesmec Rail for the delivery of 21 infrastructure maintenance vehicles.

The contracts have a duration of 4.5 years and a total value of EUR 71 million and include the supply of 21 technologically advanced vehicles to support the management, maintenance, and safety of the Slovenian railway infrastructure, in accordance with European standards.

One of the contracts involves 15 high-performance rail infrastructure maintenance cars, designed to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and full compliance with European standards. This contract is valued at EUR 52 million.

Under the second contract, Tesmec will deliver six work vehicles for catenary maintenance, including a hybrid vehicle equipped with battery technology, capable of significantly reducing emissions and noise. The contract is valued at EUR 19 million.

Tesmec is strengthening its presence in the infrastructure maintenance vehicle market

The two contracts were signed on March 5 at Ljubljana Central Station, in the presence of Slovenia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Alenka Bratušek; the General Manager of SŽ-Infrastruktura, Matjaž Kranjc; the General Manager of the SŽ Group, Dušan Mes; and Tesmec’s President, Ambrogio Caccia Dominioni.

The launch of operations in Slovenia is of strategic importance for Tesmec, as the country is a key railway hub, situated at the intersection of the Baltic–Adriatic and Mediterranean TEN-T corridors, and is thus strategically positioned within the ongoing European transition toward the electrification of the railway network.

“The contracts awarded in Slovenia reinforce Tesmec’s recognition as a key partner for the modernization of railway infrastructure, building on the experience gained in the domestic market and thanks to the successes achieved in the Czech Republic, France, Bulgaria, Egypt, and Morocco. The award by SŽ – Infrastruktura also reinforces the Group’s strategic continuity with a major public operator and stimulates potential future synergies,” stated the President of Tesmec.

The contracts for the supply of infrastructure maintenance vehicles confirm the Tesmec Group’s ability to transform the know-how developed in Italy into competitive solutions at the European level, capitalizing on the investments made in the platform, which is now used as a modular and scalable product for multiple markets in the railway sector.
