USA this week will seek to end five years playing second fiddle to Germany in the Nations Cup at Wellington, Florida to kick off the 2026 trans-Atlantic series.
Canada, Germany and USA are the only countries to declare teams for this year’s CDIO3* with $40,000 in prize money in the 15th year of the event at the Global Dressage Festival.
The USA has placed second the past five years.
The squads as announced will each have four members starting with the Grand Prix Thursday that decides team placings with the Freestyle Friday night under lights and the Special Saturday for individual honors.
Both Canada and Germany include Olympic riders on their teams–Camille Carier Bergeron on Finnlanderin in 2024 and Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu on All In at Tokyo for Canada, and German team gold medalist Frederic Wandres. Michael Klimke has ridden in three World Cup Finals on three different horses.
The U.S. team includes Kevin Kohmann who a week before the Nations Cup qualified on Dünensee for the pair’s third straight World Cup Final and, before he began riding for USA, was on the 2021 German team that began the five-year winning streak.
