First time I see (been in Switzerland from forever) the blue button to call the attendant from the restaurant.

Train experts: is this something added in the new train models or it is something legacy?

The floor didn’t look new at all, so it may be an old wagon/carriage

I have seen this in the compartment for disabled people. If you use it and you aren’t disabled I guess you will get a fine

It seems it’s an intercom where you can directly order. Makes sense, otherwise they may as well have stuck with the Minibar.

It is for people in wheelchairs or with mobility impairment so they can order food and drinks as they won’t be able to walk to the restaurant carriage.

Ah yes, you’re sitting below the restaurant in a FV-DoSto (IC). Since boarding happens on the lower floor and the restaurant is on the upper floor, people in a wheelchair/etc. can‘t reach it. So with that button they can call the staff so they can bring them sth. down.

Edit: To answer your question this is/isn’t sth new. This is specific to the FV-DoSto and has been built in since it’s release in 2018. It’s new in the sense that the IC2000 restaurant carriages had/have a staffed bistro on the lower floor and isn’t since the newest SBB train with a restaurant (Giruno) is totally wheelchair accessible, so doesn’t need a call staff button)
