Always been curious, do they set up the fire zones so the bullets that miss land somewhere far away from civilians, or is it like New Years duck-and-cover every time that thing fires lead down range for those who are unfortunate enough to live in that line of fire?

Imagine if they figured out a proximity or pre-set fuse for the 20×102 Vulcan round for drone defense. They’re gonna be so in demand both by the US and export customers. They did this for the 30mm chain gun that Apaches use but 20mm is smaller than what has ever been done. The new SkyRanger that uses pre set detonation programmed at the muzzle is 27mm or 30mm.

T-Walls, those circular guard towers, dudes wearing track suits and flip flops, random scrappy vegetation… take me back to Iraq baby!

Are there rounds between tracers or is every round is a tracer?

Wonder where all those projectiles come down

The rounds on this thing make the .50 BMG look like a child’s toy.

Ahh the green zone.
I remember the first time I heard a phalanx go off and we had an impact in between the dfac and tents
Sounds cool but didn’t do much that night.

How much do you think it cost to shoot down that $30,000 drone?

Tyler Rogoway does a great write up about the C-RAM.
I always thought they looked like the blazing whip of a Balrog.

Quite unimpressive, considering how many shots missed and the embassy being hit later anyway.
How would it do with swarms of drones
Where do the bullets that dont hit anything go?
Falling on desserts? Or hitting hospitals and orphanages ?
