Croatian energy company ENNA Group’s first major investment outside Croatia is officially in full swing, as construction continues on an 87.5 megawatt solar farm and 70 megawatt battery storage facility near Bucharest.

ENNA CEO Boštjan Napast led a delegation to Mihăilești to inspect progress on the company’s first large scale international energy project. This dual purpose solar and battery site represents a total investment of more than 80 million euros.

The 93 hectare facility is located 25 kilometres southwest of the Bucharest, and it will feature an installed capacity of 87.5 megawatt peak. The project includes a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a 70 megawatt power capacity and 140 megawatt hour storage capacity.

Work began in December 2025 following an agreement with Romanian contractors ENEVO Group and Ostenweg. Bureau Veritas provides professional supervision under FIDIC standards to ensure quality control throughout the turnkey implementation.PVP Cepheus, a special purpose vehicle under ENNA Solar, develops the project. According to company officials, the plant is expected to enter permanent operation and start the delivery of electricity to the Romanian grid in the first quarter of 2027.
