Do you ever pause and ponder which, of the many trademarks you likely encounter every day, is your particular favourite? Probably not. But now, thanks to LSM, you have a reason to do precisely that!
The Latvian Patent Office invites every resident of Latvia to participate in the vote for the candidates for the Latvian intellectual property award “Trademark of the Year 2025”.
Everyone has the opportunity to determine which one of 30 trademarks nominated for the award final will win the public vote. The poll on the LSM.lv Latvian-language service will take place from March 16th to 29th.
As with all LSM online votes, it’s up to you which one you choose and why. Maybe you know the person who designed it, maybe you work for that particular company, maybe you just like voting for things online. However, the organizers are suggesting that you vote for the trademark that best describes or complements the product identity, is original and is visually appealing.
The aim of the Patent Office’s “Trademark of the Year” award is to honor Latvian entrepreneurs who appreciate and use the advantages created by the intellectual property protection system to increase the long-term competitiveness and productivity of companies, as well as to promote the development of Latvian-origin businesses registered in Latvia and the recognition of the products and services they create.
To register your vote, you’ll need to go to this page on the LSM Latvian language service and log in with your email address, Google or Draugiem.lv profile.
There are two different categories in which you can declare your preference: one for Best Registered Trademark of Latvian companies, and on for Trademark of the Year for the European Union (featuring Latvian companies).
In keeping with most LSM online votes you can vote up to once per day – so if you are of a particularly obsessive nature or are worried that others will cast even more votes than you do, trademark selection can become a habit throughout March.
The winner of the public vote will be announced at the Latvian Intellectual Property Awards ceremony on April 22nd.
