Who will be his successor? Any chance of someone young and progressive? 😂

OP, I’m not praying for him- he has millions of dollars and connections with all the power centers to pray for him.

With all due respect, we need to reasonably discern groups, their ontological core, and what makes a certain church that church.
People saying in the comments that the Patriarch should be replaced with someone young and progressive do not understand what Orthodox Christianity conceptually is. The entire premise of Orthodoxy is the claim that ecclesiology and theology need to be as close as possible to the Church Fathers, like the Desert Fathers, and that the Church ideally should even attempt to mimic Temple Judaism in the structure of the liturgy.
If anything, if new leadership comes to the GOC, they should focus on increasing Orthodox education within the Church, because heresies like ethnophyletism (the idea that some race, ethnicity, or nation is saved in an extraordinary way above others), pagan syncretism, and superstitions related to magic run rampant in Georgia. Orthodox theological education is something that the GOC has almost completely failed at, to such a degree that the majority of priests, let alone parishioners, cannot even explain what Theosis is.
In regard to changing or modernizing the Church, again with all due respect, at that point why not become some type of non-denominational Protestant? Development of faith in a direct sense literally does not exist in Orthodoxy, it would not be a place for a person who wants that anyway.

Is it true that Georgia is becoming more religious?
From the look of it at least on the surface level all the churches are full, and I see lots of younger people kissing the church walls even. Those are the things I have never seen before.

Pray for a guy who just couldn’t stop praising Putin no matter what? He can go fuck himself, and this whole swamp of a church can follow him, frankly. These people have NOTHING to do with Christ, I mean NOTHING. There are good priests, genuine good humans, but they are at least muzzled and then marginalized, and excomunicated or even threatened; they simply cannot represent the Church because this corrupt cabal of political prostitutes has all the power. A bunch of Ex-KGB and gangsters who took the cloth to work in shadows for russian imperial interests or simply to hide from the law behind it. A blight on Christianity, nothing more nothing less
