Andris Medians, who presented himself as an experienced addiction treatment specialist and against whom criminal proceedings have been initiated for sexual abuse, has been arrested, the State Police confirmed to Latvian Television on 18th March.
Latvian Television first reported on Medians in January on the program “De Facto,” and following the broadcast, the Health Inspectorate launched an investigation, during which it discovered unauthorised medical practice. Medians had offered to treat addictions without having a medical education. He had completed a four-day course titled “Introduction to Classical Hypnosis.”
Several people have come forward to the police, stating that they experienced sexual harassment during a visit to Medians.
Several women who did not know each other reported that they had experienced similar situations in Medians’ office. At the end of the consultation, the man offered a massage and, during it, touched the women’s intimate body areas. Medians himself claims that he has never touched any woman or man in an unwanted manner.
