The Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, said that Serbia’s military exercises near the border with Kosovo, near Gjilan, are provocative for the citizens of this area.
“The military exercises conducted near the border with the Republic of Kosovo, near our municipality, are disturbing and provocative for our citizens. The presence of military forces, aircraft and such activities in populated areas creates a sense of insecurity and unnecessary tension, directly affecting the daily lives of citizens,” said Hyseni.
He said that the mayor of Gjilan is concerned about these developments and that he will ask the relevant local and international institutions to monitor the situation carefully and take concrete actions to guarantee security and stability in the region.
“Our citizens deserve peace, security and perspective, not fear and pressure. We will continue to stand by our citizens and strongly engage in protecting their interests,” he told KP.
The mayor of Presheva, Ardita Sinani, and the president of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi, have also reacted to these exercises, saying that Serbia’s military exercises are being carried out in the territory of the Municipality of Bujanovac, near the border with the Republic of Kosovo, calling this another provocation against the Albanian population.
