The Lithuanian broadcaster has revealed that it is bringing its most technically complex staging element in its history to the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.
Lion Ceccah’s performance in Vienna is set to feature a costume-like sculpture which will fall apart on stage for his performance of “Sólo Quiero Más”. The sculpture is formed of metal elements and tensioned steel cables, which are held together by electromagnets. The electricity for the sculpture is turned off, which causes the sculpture to collapse during the performance. Lion Ceccah explained that:
“This is not just a stage decoration, but a living stage sculpture, an installation that becomes the axis of the performance, transforms along with the music and ultimately collapses right on the stage”
The aim of the staging element is to “create a spectacle that the audience has never seen before in any Lithuanian Eurovision performance – a strong visual break that would become the emotional climax of the performance”.
Sigita Šimkūnaitė and Sandra Straukaitė are behind the sculpture and the technology that enables it to work. Audrius Giržadas, the Head of Delegation for Lithuania, explains that this is the most technically complex element to a performance that the country has ever attempted, he stated:
“As far as I remember, only once before in the history of Lithuania has a larger stage object been transported to the main Eurovision stage – a special platform, which was used in 2016 by Donatas Montvydas, also known as Donny Montell”
Mr. Giržadas confirmed that the staging element works as expected, that it is being sent to Vienna well in advance of the contest to ensure that it works, before the rehearsals and live performance take place in Austria.
Lion Ceccah won the right to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria. Lion Ceccah will perform in the second half of the first semi-final at the contest on May 12.

Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994. However, their debut appearance saw Lithuania finish in last place with nul points. Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”. They finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points. Lithuania has only finished in the top 10 on two other occasions: in 2016 with “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” by Donny Montell and in 2021 with “Discoteque” by The Roop.
