LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 19, 2026) — Have a parking citation? Settle it and support some of Kentucky’s most vulnerable pediatric patients during University of Kentucky Transportation Services’ second DanceBlue drive.

Transportation Services will donate one week’s citation proceeds to support the mission of DanceBlue, a fully student-run organization. This year’s drive starts Sunday, March 22, and continues through Saturday, March 28.

All parking citation revenue collected that week will be donated to DanceBlue to support the Hematology/Oncology Clinic at UK Golisano Children’s Hospital. DanceBlue fundraises year-round, culminating in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon. This year, DanceBlue is Saturday, April 18, through Sunday, April 19, in downtown Lexington.

“We’re excited to support this critical mission again this year,” said Lance Broeking, director of Auxiliary Services and UK Transportation Services. “Last year was our first year participating, and the drive generated $41,890 in donations. We’re proud to partner with the UK community to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families who are facing a difficult prognosis.”

UK Transportation Services is a self-funded campus department. Less than 6% of total departmental revenue is generated through citation fines and that revenue essentially offsets the cost of parking enforcement activities. In a perfect world, everyone would follow the parking and permit regulations. Unfortunately, the reality is that parking enforcement is necessary to encourage proper parking behavior. However, Transportation Services’ popular Donations for Citations program and the DanceBlue partnership allows the negative experience of receiving a parking citation to ultimately benefit a worthy cause.

Individuals with parking citations can pay them March 22-28 online, on-site at Transportation Services’ customer service center or by phone at 859-257-5757. All money from citation payments received during that week will go to DanceBlue.

“We’re so incredibly grateful for the UK Transportation office’s generous support of DanceBlue,” said Claire Prater, DanceBlue corporate chair. “Last year’s give-back week was a huge success, and we can’t wait to see the impact we can make together this year. It means so much more knowing that our campus partners are just as dedicated to our cause.”

Since its inception in 2006, DanceBlue has raised more than $25 million dollars to fight pediatric cancer. For details about its mission, visit DanceBlue.org.

UK Transportation Services is located at 721 Press Avenue, in the Press Avenue Garage. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
