BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.
Ivan Demerdzhiev is the top-of-the-list candidate of Progressive Bulgaria for Kardzhali’s 9th multi-member constituency, the party press service said here Thursday.
Between 2022 and 2023 Demerdzhiev served as deputy prime minister and minister of the interior in the two consecutive caretaker governments of Galab Donev. In 2021 he was caretaker minister of justice and deputy minister in the same ministry. His professional career is closely linked to the legal profession. He is a long-time member of the Plovdiv Bar Association and chaired it between 2019 and 2021. He is managing partner in a law firm with expertise in commercial, civil and administrative law.
He graduated in law from Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. He specialises in procedural representation in complex commercial cases, insolvency and property law. He speaks Russian and German. He is married and has two children.
