The European People’s Party (EPP) is a major political force in Europe, said Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the party to which he belongs, the Croatian Democratic Union. The Croatian prime minister, who arrived in Brussels for the EU summit held on Thursday, also participated in the celebration of the EPP’s 50th anniversary.

“Over the past 50 years, the EPP has been a major political force in Europe, which has always stood firmly by the citizens. In the face of numerous challenges, we are building the future of the EU on the fundamental principles of our policy – solidarity, prosperity, security and a globally respected Europe,” Plenkovic said in a post on “X”.

He added that “HDZ”, as a member of the EPP, has an important and active role. “We will continue to contribute to common European policies, protecting the interests of Croatian citizens and further strengthening our position at the heart of Europe,” Plenkovic stressed.

On Wednesday in Brussels, he also met with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, during which he informed “X” that Croatia will continue to support Macedonia on its path towards EU membership.

“We exchanged views on geopolitical challenges, security of energy supply in Southeast Europe, as well as on measures taken by both governments to combat rising energy prices. Croatia will continue to support North Macedonia on its path to EU membership and we believe that it deserves a clear perspective,” Plenkovic announced./Telegraph/
