According to investigators, a fire broke out in a warehouse at an industrial complex in Pardubice, about 120 km east of Prague, which may have been a terrorist attack. Responsibility was claimed by a group protesting the supply of weapons to Israel.
In a statement received by investigators, the group said that the arson of the “key manufacturing hub” in Pardubice was carried out to stop the “genocide in Gaza.” However, the Czech defense company LPP Holding, which owns the facility, confirmed the fire but stated that it is not involved in producing weapons for Israel.
LPP Holding had planned to cooperate with the Israeli company Elbit Systems to manufacture drones, but these plans have not been realized since 2023.
“No Israeli drones have ever been manufactured at our facility,” the company said in an official statement.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the incident. The investigation is also being conducted by national security forces under the article on terrorism.
“Based on what we know so far, it is likely the incident may be related to a terrorist attack,” Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar said. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced that he will convene a meeting of the National Security Council regarding the incident.
Attacks against Jews amid the war in Iran
It is worth noting that in the US and Europe, attacks against Jewish communities have increased in the context of the operation in Iran. On March 12, in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a car carrying explosives crashed into the Temple Israel synagogue, which also houses a school. There were no casualties among students or staff; only the attacker was killed.
On the morning of March 14, an explosion occurred in a wealthy district in the south of Amsterdam, damaging a Jewish school. Authorities classified the incident as a deliberate attack.
