Today, I will tell you about a small but instructive incident that took place between us and the British: It took place in Kuşadası. July of 1934…

While England’s Mediterranean fleet was wandering in the Aegean, they approached Kanapiçe Bay in the Dipburun region of Kuşadası with four British military boats. Our maritime borders are now protected by the Customs Enforcement Regiment consisting of our soldiers. While the British Sailors were landing, Dipburun Police Station private MUSA from Balıkesir said, “Stop! Surrender!” But while the British soldiers do not listen to this warning and run away, Private Musa from Balıkesir pulls the trigger of his rifle repeatedly. One of the British officers dies. The other one is also injured.

Kuşadası District Governor Dilaver Argun informs Ankara. While waiting for instructions from Ankara, a British warship anchors in Kuşadası Port. 2 British officers go ashore and go to the District Governor’s office. He tries to ask the district governor to account for the soldiers.

The snooty British people are angry. The British, who previously sailed in these waters as they wished, did not understand how the soldier of a newly established state killed the “soldier of the noble empire where the sun never sets”. And according to them, this is not what will happen. They have become accustomed to riding in these lands as they wish and setting foot on the lands they wish since 1838… Our navy goes to these waters and expresses its condolences.

The district governor informs that “the duty was carried out due to unauthorized entry into Turkish waters.” The necessary ceremony is held for the British soldier, but the BRITISH, who used to make a problem even when a child threw a stone in the consulate garden to drop a plum, and could even get the child’s apology at his school with compensation from the state, are angry and insistent. “Private Musa should definitely be punished and COMPENSATION should be given…”

Diplomatic pressure is put on, and they even decide to come to the shores of Kuşadası with a larger navy. They are used to the Turkey of the old days that bowed to their every wish. But now there is a NEW Türkiye, not in words but in practice…

As soon as Ataturk learns about this incident, just as the Swedes say, “He thinks like Ataturk and makes his decision quickly like Ataturk.” He tells Cevat Abbas, “The Turkish soldier has done his duty,” to be conveyed to Ankara, and leaves Bolu.

His command is this: "Musa from Balıkesir, a Turkish soldier who is understood to have done his duty, cannot be removed from his place or punished. If necessary, one would risk war with England for Musa. Now I am leaving for Ankara. I order partial mobilization in the Aegean."

The government sends a letter of appreciation and a monetary award to District Governor Dilaver Ergun. Meanwhile, the troops in the Aegean region are put into partial mobilization. Izmir Fortified Area Command troops, 2nd Corps from Balıkesir and 1st Corps from Afyon set out for the region!

In other words, the New Republic of Türkiye has made its decision for Private MUSA. The government ruling the Republic of Türkiye will fight, if necessary, with England, the ‘bully’ of the world, “for Private Musa”!

The concept of “NEW” cannot be created simply by saying “I said it and it happened”. NEW Türkiye is after 1923 and it gives it RIGHT.

This right means risking war with the “empire where the sun never sets” just for ERI.

While the incident in Kanapiçe Bay in 1934 was being explained to the British ambassador; The FOUNDATION of the Republic of Turkey is based on “What are British soldiers doing in the territory of an independent state?”… NOT “Oh, the British will say something, the peace will be broken, the people’s VOTE for us will be lost”…

In this incident, the soldier also did his duty; government too! This event is the pride of Ataturk’s Republic! It is no longer possible to easily enter the Turkish coast by waving hands; Even a single Turkish soldier is very important, especially if he is doing his duty; was emphasized.… But this was also learned. Mustafa Kemal is the HONOR of the Turkish nation and if necessary, he can even risk war for the honor of the Turkish nation.

This is how to become a WORLD LEADER….
