A handover ceremony in Cherkasy brought new equipment and strengthened operational ties between Danish and Ukrainian rescue services. Officials highlighted exchange of expertise and long term support.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has received five modern fire-fighting and rescue vehicles from the Kingdom of Denmark.

The press service of the SES reports.

The handover ceremony took place in Cherkasy region with the participation of Erik Breum-Christensen, Special Attaché for Civil Protection in Ukraine of the Kingdom of Denmark, and the first deputy head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Vitaliy Myroniuk.

“We sincerely thank the government and the people of Denmark for their systematic support. During the full-scale invasion we have not only received a significant amount of specialized equipment, but also critically important fire-fighting equipment”

– Myroniuk

“For us, this dialogue is not only about material resources but also about exchanging unique experiences. We are ready to share our developments in responding to emergencies, as today Ukrainian rescuers are working in unprecedented conditions.”

The Special Attaché noted that the partnership between Denmark and Ukraine has always been strong.

“Last month we signed a strategic partnership agreement. For me, this fire-fighting equipment is much more than just machines; it is a real reflection of the strategic partnership between the two countries. It is a small part of the support that Denmark provides to Ukraine”

– Breum-Christensen

The Special Attaché of the Kingdom of Denmark also visited the underwater mine clearance section and other special operations of the Emergency Rescue Detachment of the Special Purpose Unit and became familiar with the work of Cherkasy divers-sappers and the equipment at their disposal.

In February, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and the head of the SES Andriy Danik, during a meeting with the Danish delegation led by Minister for Resilience and Readiness Torsten Schack Pedersen, signed a cooperation agreement.

The handover of five modern fire-fighting and rescue vehicles strengthens the operational capabilities of Cherkasy units and demonstrates Denmark’s long-term and systematic support for Ukraine in the field of civil protection. Such steps indicate strong cooperation trends and a strengthened readiness to respond to emergencies.
