£500 compensation…this is literally nothing, the time spent dealing with this situation costs a lot more in victims time.
How is this supposed to deter criminals?

Why on earth is he still being called a prankster? More appropriate terms would be something like “career criminal” or “repeat offender”.

What do we do, seriously with people who have no intent of ever reforming, who feel on balance it is rewarding to continue being a criminal.
At some point, can we not just reserve an Outer hebridean island to serve as a lifetime prison colony?

How is this little wanker not banged up yet. He clearly has no intention of sorting his shit out, lock him up for a few years and see how he feels about that.

He will have made far more than £500 from the video he posted. This will not deter him.

If you stealing somebody’s property and avoiding the law, you are not a prankster, you are a criminal.

Criminal justice system – if you can call it that – is not fit for purpose. Need to start mass building gulags to put them all in.

# Mizzy: Career Criminal given community order after stealing woman’s phone and fleeing police

Letting this guy away with it and labeling him a “prankster”, just because he filmed it, is a direct equivalent to letting someone get away with any other crime providing that they film it.
E.g. Dealing drugs? Nope, I’m a prankster, I uploaded the video of me dealing onto TikTok so it’s not the same. Murder? Nope. I livestreamed the killing to my followers, it’s just a prank that got out of hand bro.
Why is he being treated with such leniency? The highest possible sentence (proportionate to his crimes) should have been given in this case to set a clear precedent that you cannot simply commit crimes in the UK and use TikTok as a get-out clause.
He is a particularly nasty piece of work too. I’ve watched the interviews with him, he seems to have a genuine malice in him.

“It’s just a prank bro” Before committing theft… what a joke.

Eh given a long enough timeline he’ll likely be another government statistic

He stole from a woman and evaded police, so gets a £500 fine only and some community service?
Steal my phone, prank or not, if I catch up to you, I’m treating you like any common thug.
