  1. Kind of absurd they are trying. At 6 years on, how can you reasonably provide documentation to prove you were eligible for cerb or not.

  2. Well, it would be nice if they’re able to recover some of that money. But at the end of the day, even the overpayments from CERB served their purpose.

The number of people who intentionally committed fraud isn’t actually that high. It’s mostly people who didn’t fully understand the program, with maybe a hint of selective reasoning.

But the bulk of that money flowed right back into the Canadian economy, helping prevent a deeper recession and a much harder recovery.

So if some guy in Mississauga who was on disability and didn’t earn $5,000 in a year got a couple of extra bucks and was finally able to buy new sheets for the first time in 15 years, I’m not that worried about it.

Why not collect $$$$ from the hundreds of thousands of illegal rental landlords who have never paid taxes on their rental home businesses? It’s MILLIONS of $$$.

    (Or focus on this shit.)
