The European Union Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, also commented on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue during a meeting with a group of journalists in Pristina at the end of his mission in Kosovo.
He stressed that a high-level meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is necessary to advance the dialogue process.
“Of course, this has to happen and it is very difficult for me to imagine that when Kaja Kallas invites President Vučić and Prime Minister Kurti to a meeting, and the answer from either of them is: ‘No, sorry, I will not come to the meeting from either of them… Because if we do not talk to each other, it is impossible to solve any problem,” Orav stated.
According to him, the European Union’s mediation aims precisely at organizing such meetings, to produce concrete results.
Orav assessed that organizing a high-level meeting depends on the political will of both sides, hinting that refusing to participate would not be reasonable.
He added that high-level meetings are not merely symbolic, but require serious preparation from diplomats to be successful.

Speaking about the sensitive issues that accompany the dialogue, Orav emphasized that they should be addressed at the table and not serve as an obstacle.
“I fully understand the problems you mentioned regarding the attack in Banjska, regarding the lack of signing of the Ohrid Agreement, but these issues can be discussed. If they are not discussed, then we will not achieve anything,” he said in response to a question from Telegrafi editor-in-chief, Muhamet Hajrullahu.

In conclusion, Orav reiterated that dialogue remains the only mechanism to resolve disputes between Kosovo and Serbia.
“These issues can be discussed… but if they are not discussed, there can be no solution,” he concluded. /Telegrafi/.
