BirGün reporter İsmail Arı, known for his news on distortions in the country, especially corruption and irregularities in public institutions, was detained in Tokat, where he went to visit his family.

There was reaction from all segments of society to Arı’s detention.

Arı, who was detained at around 22.10 yesterday evening (March 21) in Turhal district, where his wife’s family home is located, was brought to Ankara this morning.

To our detained reporter, "publicly disseminating information that misleads the public" the accusation was made.

The investigation is being carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
