French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have sent congratulatory messages to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti following his re-election to this post, reaffirming their support for the country’s European integration and dialogue with Serbia.
In his letter, Macron congratulates Kurti on extending his mandate.
“I express my warmest congratulations on your re-election to the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo,” Macron’s letter to Kurti in February reads.

He emphasizes that France will continue to support Kosovo in key international processes, especially in the dialogue for the normalization of relations with Serbia.
“France will continue to tirelessly support efforts to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” the French president said.
Along the same lines, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has sent a congratulatory telegram, appreciating Kurti’s experience and his role in integration processes.
Merz emphasizes the importance of decisions related to Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic future:
“I am convinced that with your experience you will make the right and necessary decisions for the further Euro-Atlantic integration of Kosovo,” Merz wrote in his letter to Kurti.

He also underlines the importance of the dialogue mediated by the European Union.
“This also includes further progress in the EU-mediated normalization dialogue with Serbia,” Merz said.
In the end, Merz assures that Germany will remain a strong partner for Kosovo.
“Kosovo has a strong and reliable partner in Germany,” the German Chancellor’s letter states, among other things.
