A case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed at a duck farm in Jangsu, North Jeolla Province, bringing the number of outbreaks at poultry farms this winter to 60.
The central disease response headquarters said Saturday that the H5N1 strain was detected at a farm raising about 12-thousand-500 ducks in Jangsu.
To prevent further spread, authorities issued a 24‑hour standstill order, effective until 2 p.m. Sunday, for poultry farms, related facilities, and vehicles in North Jeolla Province, as well as in the neighboring South Gyeongsang counties of Geochang and Hamyang.
Officials are conducting intensive inspections at 31 farms within a ten‑kilometer radius of the affected site and carrying out disinfection at migratory bird habitats and farm access roads nationwide.
