    >Tehran has threatened to escalate strikes on energy infrastructure and target critical water desalination facilities, should President Donald Trump make good on a promise to “obliterate” the country’s power plants if it does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

    >“If Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked, then fuel, energy, information technology systems and desalination infrastructure used by America and the regime in the region will be struck,” Col. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military command headquarters, warned on Sunday, according to the IRNA Iranian state news agency.

  2. Trump’s legacy is war, child molestation, theft, and the isolation of our country from it’s allies.

  3. This is the kind of thing that happens when you start a war based on hunches and vibes, without any kind of planning.

If there was any kind of plan on Trump’s part, it was vague to the point of uselessness. I suspect it was something like, “Take out a few leaders and bomb some places, and the Iranian people will overthrow the government and install a western friendly regime.”

    Obviously.

    It’s exactly what they want.

    Why can’t he understand this?

And if he’s destroying the world economy on purpose, why isn’t anyone in the US govt or opposition or legislature stopping him?

  5. Technical_Ideal_5439 on

Trump doesnt seem to understand that the regime does not care about the people. Making is harder for the people has little impact on the regime they are simply not going to care about the threat other than people getting bombed are not going to like the US.

  6. For those following at home; this is what happens when you send a Real Estate Developer and a Private Equity guy to negotiate a peace deal.

  7. Escalating rhetoric around critical infrastructure raises concerns about broader regional and economic fallout.

What’s the point of giving sovereign countries public ultimatums on social media ? No country will ever bow to such. You approach discretely through trusted third parties

  9. Happy_Feet333 on

    Pretty much to be expected.

As long as Iran’s government is not threatened by revolt or invasion, they have a free hand to maximize pain to anyone attacking them.

Iran took care of the revolt threat before the war started. And there’s no credible threat of invasion coming from the US. 5,000 marines that will get to the Persian gulf in about 4 weeks is not a threat at all.

(5,000 US marines just left on for the Gulf… from San Diego. So their ship has to reach the Panama Canal, transit through it. Travel across the Atlantic, through the Mediterranean, through the Suez Canal, down the Red Sea, and then around the Arabian Peninsula. And that’s going to take a while.)

Not to mention that 5,000 Marines, while competent, are a joke if you are planning to invade Iran.

How unsurprising. Trump really has no idea what he is doing, does he. I’d think it was all brilliant satire if it wasn’t so excruciatingly our actual reality.

  11. When you say ‘obliterate’ over and over again it tends to lose it’s effect. And may be a sign you have dementia.

  12. Major_Lawfulness6122 on

Why would they be swayed? He will probably forget he wrote it in 48 hours.

  13. The guy finally met his match and doesn’t realize that he can’t make them roll over with bullying and threatening like it’s a tariff against an ally.

  14. The stupid orange prick’s panicking big time because this would be a rollover.

Now there’s no way he can get out of it without losing face. So he doubles down writing incoherent rants on social media from his golf course.

Iranians have been sanctioned and living in economic turmoil for over a decade now, their resolve to wait this out is far higher than the average American will be willing to put up with.

  16. GeshtiannaSG on

This is according to Trump himself:

    >We’re having a hard time. We want to talk to them, and there’s nobody to talk to.

If you want to negotiate then don’t kill negotiators.

In 1973 When America threatened to bomb Saudi oil fields

King Faisal said: “You are the ones who can’t live without oil. We come from the desert, our ancestors lived on dates and milk, and we can easily go back to living like that again.”

  18. lol. This clown show trying to act like they’ve figured out a cheat code to world politics that no other administration found.

Unfortunately the world reels from the idiocy of these fools.

  19. Things are definitely going to get worse. Trump is just going to double down on this stupid war and Iran is going to retaliate the way they said they would.

    Demented bluff fails.

The US and Israel couldn’t possibly have played this more poorly at the upper echelons despite the heroic sacrifice and efforts of airmen and many diverse other personnel. Lions led by the craziest hyenas available. One issue with blasting out the endless decapitation strikes is that Iran puts the most radical guys available into the empty slots. Also, it necessarily forces decentralization and then IRGC missile and drone units operate autonomously and hit all kinds of places even IRGC leaders want spared. Did I mention Trump and Hegseth basically babbling belligerent nonsense resembles what they would say if the ayatollahs controlled their every word to discredit the US and damage alliances? Pepperidge Farms will remember.

Everyone in the whole world can see that iran is driving the bus, and has been driving the bus since day one. Likewise everyone on the planet in every nation can see that trumps toddler-like foot stamping and dumb statements about ultimatums are NOT going to do anything to bring any kind of conclusion to this mess, they are only going to prompt Iran to make ANOTHER power move and put trump into an even WORSE position of importance.

  22. Someone has boxed themselves into a corner…and it ain’t Iran.

Obviously trump never learned to play chess…and if he did, he probably cheated. His ability to think ahead is astoundingly limited to just the next 10 to 24 hours. There will be another post on his social media, shortly, with yet another tactical blunder mentioned in the post.

They are very close to having nothing to lose. This is when war becomes exceptionally dangerous for many innocent people.

  24. Solo_Camping_Girl on

Well, look on the bright side. At least, most countries will be too economically and logistically exhausted to start WW3. I have no idea how we’ll spend Christmas this year, but I’m confident we’ll be pulling sleighs and carriages by horse again.

  25. DoggedStooge on

Yup. Iran calling Trump’s bluff. Which is the right move from their standpoint. Because now either Trump has to TACO and once again prove he’s a little bitch (the better outcome for everyone tbh), or he has to follow through. Following through would further reduce support for the US within Iran and the likelihood of a popular uprising doing the dirty work to oust the regime, would further reduce the likelihood of the remainder of the western world helping because we’re attacking civilian infrastructure, and would risk causing incredible humanitarian damage to the region should Iran follow through on their threats (which they will).

Jesus Christ, this is the first time in my life that I’m not rooting for my own country.

  27. man i hate all of the people making decisions in this mess

they are going to ruin the world economy even more than it is

  28. Why is no one doing anything about this ? Why aren’t liberals or something doing anything ? Why are people in power just letting this get so bad.

The world is almost certainly going down a very bad path and everyone is just watching it happen.

Are we not at a point where NATO are looking at this thinking maybe we should stop him?

  29. Trump’s latest ravings makes Obama’s red line comment about Syria look like baby talk. Or dementia talk

  30. Top-Fig-8846 on

This war cannot go on for six months, if persian gulf is locked and natrual gas and oil facilities keep being attacked, the middle east will be paralyzed, in three months (china’s oil reservoir), world economy and industry will be destroyed. Once petrodollar is doomed, AI bubbles will burst, a big financial earthquake will hit and crash US, which will then severely damage Europe and East Asia, many will go broke, while south asia will experience famine, the whole world will be in chaos

  31. Decent-Experience-8 on

Wait until Trump learns that Old Navy isn’t actually part of his military capability.

  32. trump’s choice to pick a fight against Iran, the country most like a honey badger, is the sort of thing only a *”fucking moron”* would do.

  33. YaThatAintRight on

He will be dead before he sees the repercussions of ANYTHING he does. He does not care.

This is why you don’t have geriatric politicians running your country people. They have nothing to lose!

  34. Yeah because if he does this, the regime gets a whole new generation of radicals they can recruit for terrorism and to further the regime.

Donald Trump is such a fucking idiot.

  35. trump doesnt realize that the iranian govenment is just die hard fanatics who realy go all out on what theys belive.. as crazy at it is – while donald is just a greedy bsuinessman who is after money and comfort

  36. Wait, I thought we were freeing the people of Iran from the regime…Now we’re threatening to take away all they’re energy?
