One person is dead and two are missing after a wind turbine caught fire in Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province.
The fire started Monday at around 1:10 p.m., with blazes first being spotted in the turbine’s blades.
Fire authorities said an employee of a wind turbine supplier was found dead at the site, adding that two other employees from the same company are missing.
The wind farm that houses the turbine had previously witnessed an incident on February 2 in which another turbine split in two.
Firefighters have mobilized eleven helicopters, as well as other equipment and personnel, to contain the fire, which has spread to nearby hills.
