The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated tonight in the opening of Francophonie Week in Pristina, where he emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Francophone countries and sought support for advancing the country’s status in the International Organization of La Francophonie.

Kurti said that this event reminds us that culture weighs heavily, language connects people and values unite peoples, emphasizing that at a time when divisions are deepening, dialogue is stronger than isolation and culture more stable than conflict.

He stated that Francophone countries are valuable friends and important partners for Kosovo, while their support remains valuable in the country’s journey as a state, built on trust, respect and a common goal for a free and democratic society.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to strengthening the presence of the French language in schools and to increasing cooperation with Francophone countries.

He also reiterated the importance of continuing support for raising Kosovo’s status in the International Organization of La Francophonie, from associate member to full member.

“Allow me, Excellencies Ambassadors, to reiterate the importance of your continued support for raising Kosovo’s status in the International Organization of La Francophonie, from an associate member to a full member, as a natural step towards deepening our cooperation. Albanian, by the Albanian people, perhaps more than with books, has been preserved with conviction. Our respect for other languages stems from the same conviction with which we have protected our own. For us, every language carries a history that cannot be translated in its entirety, and that is precisely where its importance lies,” declared the Prime Minister.

He emphasized, among other things, that the Kosovar diaspora in Francophone countries has been a living bridge of connection between Kosovo and Francophone countries.

Kurti thanked the embassies and all those who have made the organization of this week possible, wishing a beautiful week in Gjilan, the host city of Francophonie this year.
