Brisbane is averaging around 247-250c/L right now – the highest price recorded since fuel price monitoring began here. Up another 16c just this past week.
But the real story in QLD isn't Brisbane. It's what's happening an hour west.
Regional QLD has been among the worst hit for diesel in the country. Farmers in electorates like Flynn couldn't secure diesel deliveries. Independent servo owners in outback towns ran completely dry. The Nationals launched a dedicated shortage reporting website specifically because of how bad it got in regional QLD and NSW.
Numbers worth knowing:
- Brisbane ULP: ~247-250c/L – highest on record
- Brisbane diesel: ~295-300c/L
- E10 is 229c/L if your car supports it – worth checking
- Fill up early in the week in Brisbane – ACCC price cycle data confirms that's when prices are cheapest
- Rationing not ruled out past mid-April if the conflict continues
The NFF warned food prices could rise up to 50% if diesel shortages persist and halt freight – and QLD is one of Australia's biggest agricultural states so this is closer to home here than most places.

You mean the website with data the end user can’t actually access? It’s nothing but a means for the Libs/Nats/LNP to get your email address.
Conservatives doing what they do best – politicising everything.
I’m sure using the word crisis won’t make people panic buy… /s
cause we totally need another post about fuel prices
Wouldn’t be surprised for prices to be over $5 or $6 in a month or 2.
Ah 50% increase in groceries.. fuck this
I know absolutely nothing about cars so I wish the E10 compatibility stuff was easier to understand. I have a 2004 Honda Civic, and a while ago I checked if it was compatible, then started using E10 fuel. When I next got a car service, the mechanic asked if I’d been using E10 and said it was damaging the engine and not to use it anymore. I _have_ had a long history of mechanics lying to me about problems though to try getting me to spend more, probably because they can tell I’m clueless, although this wasn’t about me paying him anything extra.
Is it just that some older cars were “compatible but not really”, or did this mechanic just really hate E10 and blame any issues he saw on it or something? I would like to use it as it’s much cheaper, and my car is allegedly compatible… But I of course don’t want to damage my engine if the mechanic was actually telling the truth, as that’d definitely negate the savings.
all thanks to *checks facebook* albo!!
Fucking Trump
Ahhh remember when the LNP berated Rudd for the fuel watch platform?
All those Australian trump loving simps been real quiet lately
praying for the downfall of the Great Satan
Is that adjusted for inflation ?
Diesel is $3.15 around the corner
I made myself a thing that takes the gov fuel data and the price of oil to do predictive calculations but despite me having access from last year I did not setup the collectors until a week ago, so Im lacking enough data to actually do the matchup/offsets I want.
But with it’s generalised matchup the next drop will be next Tuesday which should be around 2.420. 2.515 is the price I have for tomorrow for Unleaded.
Everything is SUPER rough right now because different petrol chains would have different supply chain durations, then there is differences for delivery time across the state etc. But right now with my incomplete data IOR seems to be the most expensive in terms of margin on top of oil price and Independents being the least (with Caltex in 2nd place).
When I have a month of data instead of a week and a bit it will be way more interesting.
What’s the go with jet fuel and flights? I am flying to NZ for a few weeks in April. Am I buggered?
I like the caveat “since records began”. Maybe fuel was more expensive in the 1960s, we can’t be completely sure!
For anyone wanting more detail – the site has a full state by state price breakdown with daily change figures, a rationing risk tracker that I update daily, and live news updates as the situation develops. [petrolcrisis.com.au](http://petrolcrisis.com.au)
diesel is more like $3.09 now
Australia’s fuel reserve explainer :

It’s across the country even wa. And fuel companies are just legal cartels
Elon must be loving the massive jump in EV car sales. Maybe Trump started this shit because he has secretly acquired a large interest in Tesla 🤔

Mad max scenario when ?
We’re somewhat lucky with the timing because we already had the fertiliser to start the growing season. The northern hemisphere is just getting ready to start planting and the fertiliser being blocked through the strait will be a massive pain for them.
We still need diesel for bringing the crop in but hey at least it’s there to begin with.
