At Bulgaria’s Consulate General in Munich on Tuesday, Consul General Stefan Ionkov met with Dr. Florian Behr, advisor at the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. The meeting focused on opportunities to develop Bulgarian language education in Bavaria and the role of Bulgarian Sunday schools as a key factor in preserving the language and identity among young Bulgarians, the Bulgarian diplomatic mission said on Facebook.
“Dr. Behr was familiarized with the activities of Bulgarian Sunday schools in Bavaria, which are recognized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and issue certificates of proficiency in the Bulgarian language. During the meeting, specific opportunities allowed by local legislation for further institutionalization of this initiative were discussed,” the Consulate General in Munich said.
The Bulgarian diplomatic mission added that the discussion outlined an important direction for deepening cooperation between Bulgaria and Bavaria in the field of education and support for the Bulgarian community.
