Fans in Romania and Slovakia are increasingly traveling beyond their home cities, and even across borders, to experience live music, highlighting a growing supply gap in both markets.
New audience insights reveal a clear trend: demand for concerts is rising faster than local availability, prompting Live Nation to invest in expanding the region’s live entertainment infrastructure.
In Slovakia, more than half of live music fans travel to other cities to attend concerts, with nearly 50% saying there are not enough events locally. Romania shows a similar pattern, with 47% of fans traveling for shows and around 40% citing a lack of concerts or suitable venues in their area.
In Slovakia, 56% of fans are calling for more pop concerts. Romanian audiences echo that demand, with 56% seeking more pop shows, alongside 45% who want increased access to rock performances.
Recognizing both the unmet demand and long-term growth potential, Live Nation is investing in the region through strategic partnerships with established local promoters Emagic in Romania and Vivien in Slovakia.
A Live Nation spokesperson shared:
“From Bucharest to Bratislava, fans are telling us they want more live music in their own cities. With so many travelling for concerts and more international visitors building gigs into their trips – this is a pivotal moment to invest in the region’s live entertainment infrastructure. With Emagic and Vivien, we’re strengthening local expertise, expanding capacity and creating more opportunities to bring world-class artists to local stages.”
The company points to its success in neighboring markets as proof of concept. Live Nation Hungary, for example, tripled its annual number of shows between 2022 and 2024, demonstrating how sustained investment can rapidly grow a live music ecosystem.
Emagic, a leading Romanian promoter since 2005, has played a key role in shaping the country’s live music landscape, working with global acts including Depeche Mode, Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay and Metallica, alongside major local artists.
In Slovakia, Vivien has established itself as a premier booking agency, bringing international stars such as Beyoncé, Rammstein, Imagine Dragons and Iron Maiden to the region. The company also manages IMT Smile, one of Slovakia’s most successful bands.
By partnering with these local operators, Live Nation aims to scale infrastructure, increase show frequency, and better align programming with regional tastes.
