Sea Island has directed $250,000 through Georgia’s Giving with Heart program to support community health care initiatives in coastal Georgia, continuing the company’s long-standing commitment to the region.
The funds were directed through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, which allows individuals and businesses to receive state income tax credits for donations that support rural and community hospitals across Georgia. Through the program, Sea Island designated its contribution to Southeast Georgia Health System, a not-for-profit health system that reinvests its revenue into improving health care services, facilities and patient care.
“Southeast Georgia Health System plays a vital role in the well-being of our community,” says Scott Steilen, President and CEO of Sea Island. “Programs like Georgia HEART allow organizations and individuals to make meaningful investments in health care while supporting the places where we live and work.”
Headquartered in Brunswick, Georgia, Southeast Georgia Health System comprises two acute care hospitals — one in Brunswick and one in St. Marys — along with multiple specialty centers and more than 50 physician practices. The system offers a full range of services and reinvests revenue into health care programs, technology, and patient care to continually improve services for the communities it serves.
“Contributions like this help us continue providing high-quality care to those we serve,” says Christy D. Jordan, President and CEO of Southeast Georgia Health System. “We appreciate Sea Island’s support through the Georgia HEART program, which helps us continue investing in the care our patients rely on every day.”
Sea Island also hopes the contribution will help raise awareness of the Georgia HEART program, which allows Georgia taxpayers to direct a portion of their state income tax liability to support qualifying hospitals while receiving a state tax credit.
“Many people aren’t aware that this program exists,” Steilen says. “It’s a meaningful way for individuals and businesses to support health care in their communities while directing tax dollars back into the region.”
Sea Island has long supported initiatives throughout coastal Georgia, including programs focused on health care, housing stability, education, and environmental conservation. Through philanthropic giving, volunteerism and community partnerships, the resort continues to support efforts that strengthen quality of life in the Golden Isles.
