Russia sought to pressure the United States into cutting off intelligence support for Ukraine by offering to limit its own intelligence sharing with Iran, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview, Reuters reported on March 25.

Speaking in Kyiv, Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence had gathered what he described as irrefutable evidence that Russia continues to pass intelligence to Iran.
“I have reports from our intelligence services showing that Russia is doing this and saying: ‘I will not pass on intelligence to Iran if America stops passing intelligence to Ukraine.’ Isn’t that blackmail? Absolutely,” Zelenskyy told Reuters.
He did not specify whom Russia had allegedly addressed with that message.
The president framed the alleged offer as an attempt by Moscow to trade influence in one theater for leverage in another while Ukraine remains reliant on foreign intelligence cooperation to defend against Russian attacks.
Russia has denied helping Iran in its month-long conflict with the US and Israel.
The accusation also reflects Kyiv’s effort to frame Russia’s ties with Iran as active operational support rather than political alignment alone.
Recently, Zelenskyy illustrated the evidence as conclusive and framed Moscow’s role not as passive alignment with Tehran, but as direct intelligence support feeding Iran’s operations against US and partner interests in the region.
He also noted that Russian components had been identified in Iranian drones, reinforcing Kyiv’s argument that the military relationship between Moscow and Tehran now extends beyond technology transfers.
