Damascus, Mar. 26 (SANA) Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar discussed with Acting Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Syria, Pirro Tomaso Perri, means of enhancing joint cooperation to support the agricultural sector and strengthen its contribution to the national economy.
The meeting, held on Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters, addressed ways to increase the added value of agricultural products through the development of production chains and food processing industries, alongside strengthening food safety systems and adopting standards necessary to ensure product quality and consumer protection.
Discussions also focused on the adoption of modern technologies in water resource management, particularly smart irrigation systems, given their role in improving production efficiency and achieving sustainability in the agricultural sector.
