And this is exactly why, when all the people cry about having to prove their disability and have ‘scary’ interviews etc, they need to remember that the rest of us , and working disabled don’t want to pay for cunts like this.

tbh, i really don’t care. these rare cases are used to justify taking money away from people with actual problems when the money lost to fraud is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
throwaway_ArBe on
Cant say I care. The amount of fraud is insignificant compared to the amount of people not getting enough help, and causing a fuss about fraud tends to just result in disabled people getting shit.

Does no one else find it strange that somehow the system is both a daunting process that in some cases has literally led to people dying, but also some easy to game that these cheats make their way through. When you look at the rates of successful appeals against the DWP I really don’t get how we are in this bizzaro world.

i sometimes wonder if rich people see poor people (let’s face it, they see us as poor, top 10% holding almost half the wealth) arguing with other poor people and laugh and are so glad that they aren’t criticising them. also once again this sub proves they have no idea how anxiety works, not defending this woman but rather just confused at how people still don’t get that anxiety isn’t logical. if it was logical no one would have it.

These stories are just used to whip up some indignation. If you look at the figures benefit fraud costs versus how much tax isn’t being paid by the likes of Amazon it pales in comparison. But let’s all focus on this instead. It’s no surprise the country is in a state when people are so easily manipulated.
TheLegsOfaRam on
Let’s all get mad about this instead of Amazon never paying their taxes, or MP’s giving overpriced contracts to their mates, or services being sold to hostile foreign interests.
But nah yeah, it’s definitely benefits cheats costing the working people of this country.
Mrgray123 on
I’d be interested to know what the terms of the repayment are because in too many cases they have been of the “pay us 10 quid a week” variety which would mean taxpayers will get the money back in only 40 years or so.
When cases like this happen the first thing that needs to be done is for every piece of property these people have to be seized and auctioned off. Even if it doesn’t raise that much money it would still help act as a real consequence and deterrent to others.
Nearby_Werewolf1742 on
Forget the cheating, my question is why is she getting so much money in the first place that she can afford all of this? If she was apparently never going out she doesn’t need that much money, she should be given just enough to live on.
Why was it when I was unemployed I only got paid about £70 per week to live on and that included for everything? When I was unemployed I could barely get by, why are certain people on these such massive amounts of money? Why did they get so much and I got so little? Even though ive been working snd paying tax most of my life?

It’s impossible to determine who deserves it and who doesn’t. That is the problem and the solution is to not try. Just introduce UBI and abolish the minimum wage.

Bad what they’re doing but don’t think 100% of people are ziplining and these are held up as easy shame mechanisms
Whereas the deanos avoiding tax in Dubai or the asset owners borrowing against their holdings so they never have taxable events and then step up cost basis at the end never get a scrutiny because it’s not as easy to point out.
Ofcourse benefits cheating should be stamped out.
But that loathing feeling generated if someone can point at a scapegoat is just pure control mechanism at play.
Today’s ‘based’ reform supporters ‘just asking questions’ about immigration were considered chav benefits-street cheaters by the same reform and tory party types just some odd years ago.

I am unemployed and on benefits, partly due to mental health reasons, but also due to a progressive physical disease, still. The physical disability is invisible.
I never went out in my teens or twenties, these last couple of years ive been going to a British festival, paying for the ticket in installments, going and having the time of my life despite being in so much pain. Trying to make the most while I still physically can.
Then I spend 2-4 weeks recovering by hibernating and whimpering in pain when I’m home
Do people think I’m a benefit cheat? Thats… sad man

I get they want to push anxiety out of the running as it’s hard to prove (and some are gaming the system) but it’s a genuine problem for some and it’s really debilitating. Hell I haven’t been able to get PIP yet and I have MS so that should tell you how hard it is to get! I find it a bit weird that she got £23,000 over 2 years as that would mean she was close to £1000 a month PIP?! I thought it wasn’t even close to that a month for the maximum. There’s plenty who need it and have fought tooth and nail to get it only to be refused for some BS technicality or got a particularly mean assessor. Reading the details she clearly wasn’t struggling with all the trips to the pub etc
