Imagine being a traffic copper with your radar gun on a fucking bike path. FFS. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ll let the lack of helmet go because of that ditty little engineer’s cap, quite fetching.

Probably illegal in Queensland (no helmet, more than 400W power assistance on a bicycle).

Do I get the death penalty for doing 11km an hour on my BMX while riding from the river to the sea?

  6. I’ve compiled some resources for everyone that is as upset as I am:

    The full bill: [https://documents.parliament.qld.gov.au/bills/2026/4284/Transport-and-Other-Legislation-(Managing-E-mobility-Use-and-Protecting-Our-Communities)-Amendment-Bill-2026-1809.pdf](https://documents.parliament.qld.gov.au/bills/2026/4284/Transport-and-Other-Legislation-(Managing-E-mobility-Use-and-Protecting-Our-Communities)-Amendment-Bill-2026-1809.pdf)

The QLD governments response to the inquiry (possibly for more talking points): [https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/Work-of-the-Assembly/Tabled-Papers/docs/5826t0401/5826t401.pdf](https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/Work-of-the-Assembly/Tabled-Papers/docs/5826t0401/5826t401.pdf)

    Dates:

The closing date for submissions is 10am Friday, 10 April 2026

There is a subsequent public briefing on Thursday, 2 April 2026 from 10am

Then a public hearing on Wednesday, 22 April 2026 from 9am

A further public briefing on Friday, 24 April 2026 from 9am

The final report is due on Friday, 8 May 2026

As daunting as this bill seems, there is still time to change it, albeit only with significant community support given how little the government seems to care about cycling.

I’ll be making a submission to the committee inquiry over the next few days, and I encourage as many others as possible to do so too.

The way the legislation is currently written, if three people were riding together with one on a bike, the next on an e-bike, and the last on an e-scooter on a shared path and all going 22km/h, the bike would receive no fine, the scooter would be fined $166, and the e-bike would cop a $500 fine

Everyone should bolt battery boxes to their normal bike and go over the 10ks until they get pissed off and go away. Just say it’s used as storage.
