  1. Their justifications show that they’re really stupid.

They say that his opinion on the conflict with Iran had “journalistic value” and that the interviewer (Lea Salamé) asked questions that put him in difficulty about Ukraine (questions about hospitals, and hitting civilians).

I didn’t see the interview but assuming the article is right and Lavrov had the opportunity to vomit his talking points… I don’t have the words.

That being said, Léa Salamé is mostly interested in clashes and controversial subjects. I don’t know how much power she has in the decision making but i’m not surprised she was the interviewer.

I think they saw this as a scoop.

  2. As a French I am outraged that did happen.
This is disgusting, unacceptable, and I would also call that fucking treason.

I’ve mailed my representative because this cannot be accepted, especially on a public channel for fuck sake.
I’ve also filed a complaint to ARCOM but I am pretty sure they don’t give a shit. Neither did the FranceTV executive comitee, nothing to say, move on. Fuck no.

  3. I saw no problem in the interview, though the questions made could have been better to allow a more critical insights in Lavrov ideals. I think its healthy to allow critical thinking from the part of the viewers that isn’t necessarily processed propaganda made to force an idea onto the viewers.

  4. This is not a bad thing if the tv had a fact checker live and ridiculed his non credible answers to difficult questions. But if he accepted I doubt that was the case.

  5. Thing is I had a lot of respect for Lavrov pre-Ukraine. He’s not a dummy. But, post-Ukraine invasion he’s done nothing but parroted ridiculous Russian talking points. Guess he thinks he’s being a patriot, but he’s destroyed his reputation and legacy.

  6. GENUINELY i’m so fucking tired of these morons we have here in France.

Blatant display of corruption and lack of ethic ESPECIALLY right now.

    Fucking hell.

  7. I’m really pro-ukraine but i don’t think that interview is a problem. Or problem in France are more party who are pro-russian. If we want help ukrainian, we need to understand what think russian.
And France is one of most targeted country by russian interference.

    >russia specialist Dimitri Minic described the interview as “catastrophic.”

    >“In case France TV teams still underestimate information warfare, they should understand that Moscow has made it the central weapon of its war against the West,” he wrote on X.

    >Researcher Etienne Marcuz described it as a “disgraceful interview during which a minister from an opposing power can calmly reel off his talking points at prime time on France’s main public channel, and almost without any pushback” from the television presenter.

French journalism nowadays is an absolute joke. The questions were submitted in advance to Lavrov. Political staging with some outburst…

The propaganda dictated in the mainstream media is rarely contradicted either, we get the journalists we deserve.

Philippe Corbé is the head of news at France Télévision and was appointed just in January 2026. He is not going to last long I hope.
