After an unsuccessful urgent inquiry request, for the Democratic Party, the urgent interpellation also failed scheduled for the morning of Friday 27 March. Deputy Andrea Casu then asked to intervene in the Chamber on the agenda, to put the issue at the center: “We think it is right that Copasir asks for information” on Thiel’s presence in Italy. But this “does not exclude that parliament cannot deal with this issue. We did not ask for classified information, but to account for the government’s political choices that we read from journalistic reconstructions”. The Government, therefore, in justifying the rejection of the question to the Dem parliamentary group, would have shielded itself behind a request for further information received from the Committee for the Security of the Republic

“We want to know how much of our data is already” in Thiel’s hands and “how many of these technologies are in use in our administrations,” continued Casu, “then if there are classified aspects they can be addressed at Copasir”. To clarify the dynamics, Fabio Rampelli, who was chairing the session, intervened at that point: “The Government, with a specific letter sent yesterday, declared that it could not respond”. The rules of the Chamber, in relation to the presentation of inspection documents, provide that the government can “declare that it cannot respond, indicating the reason. And this is what happened”, Rampelli specifies. No forcing, therefore, for the vice president of the Chamber. But the fact remains, the government may soon have to report to Copasir on any discussions with the controversial ultra-right entrepreneur.
