I understand they don’t want to get sued and this is largely out of the guides control but it does feel so needlessly cruel, hopefully the girls friends might leave with her to join the scouts. I understand the segregation of competitive sports like olympic events but I’ll never be able to wrap my head around excluding trans people from social spaces. There’s absolutely no need for this, these poor kids will feel so isolated.

What I don’t understand is why the guides didn’t just say “we define ourselves based on gender”. There is no legal requirement to provide a sex based girls only group. The scouts have allowed both genders for ages.

My son started with cubs and is now moving to Explorers so he has been active for many years.
In that time the number of Girl and Trans Scouts have risen significantly whilst the local girl guides closed a few years back due to lack of numbers.
What many older people need to realise is the vast majority of kids today do not give a shit about gender or sexuality.
It is no longer the 70’s, 80’s or even the 90’s were if you were suspected of being gay in school your life was made a living hell.
If anything it is the opposite today were kids who do mock others for their gender / sexuality are ostracised.

Are you not allowed to make a club for only female identifying people? I get that the law has changed so that “female only” organisations are based on biological sex, but I don’t know what is stopping them changing from a women only organisation into one that accepts trans girls.

Why is it 99% of the time it’s an issue when it’s trans women it’s a problem. Issues like this, sport, toilets etc. it never seems to be that trans men have an issue. After all we’ve heard about equality it does seem rather ironic.
