A couple of weeks ago I posted my MONTHLY shop at Tribe of Judah and some people seemed to think that I was feeding my family a steady diet of nothing but junk.

Above is our WEEKLY fresh produce shop from my local fruit and veg store. I forgot to grab the receipt, but the above cost $43.85 and will feed my family for the week, combined with some frozen veg.

I shop in bucket lots where I can and try to buy seasonal, locally sourced produce. The most expensive thing in the photo above is the sugar snap peas. They were priced at $19 a kg, but my kids love them in their lunch boxes, so I splurge on these. The tub of rocket was also a bit exxy at $3, but it really elevates a boring salad and mixes in well with omelettes and pasta sauce.

Feeding a family of 4 on a very tight budget while working full time isn't easy, but I do ensure that we're all getting a good amount of fresh fruit and vegetables along with fun foods like cookies and chips!

Overall, with a small shop at Colesworth, our weekly expenditure on groceries and household items such as washing powder, dish soap etc. is approx $200-$250.

We also spend around $50 at a local fruit and veg shop. By the next Saturday we are well cleared out but it gets us through most of the week.

Got 2kg bananas @ $2.80 from the Rochedale local, unlimited smoothies basically

Funky Food is the go. Rescued, cuts out the middleman, middle finger to the supermarket and their shitty quality. Quality is great, delivery reliable, can’t go wrong with it.

  5. Rochedale markets used to be better before they changed hands. But definitely cheaper than colesworth.
