Brussels, March 29 (SANA) – The European Union’s maritime security mission Aspides has warned commercial vessels operating in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden against entering Yemeni territorial waters due to the risk of potential attacks.
According to a statement cited by the BBC, the mission advised shipping companies to avoid Yemeni waters until the level of threat declines.
Aspides said the risk is likely to be high for vessels linked to Israel and the United States, and moderate for other ships transiting the Red Sea, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.
The mission added that its naval units deployed in the region are monitoring the situation and remain on alert.
The warning comes amid growing international concern over escalating regional tensions and their potential impact on maritime navigation and global shipping routes.
Yemen’s government on Saturday renewed its condemnation of what it described as Iranian policies aimed at drawing Yemen and the region into new conflicts, warning of further destabilization linked to the activities of the Houthi group.
