So it’s a public holiday tomorrow and many people took today off, myself included, in order to have a long weekend. Thing is, someone covered for me at work and we can’t just all of us from my team be off on the same day… well, Identita’, a PUBLIC ENTITY, treated themselves to a long weekend apparently. This is the passport office in Marsa. Closed on a Monday, a regular weekday where their opening hours should be 07:30 – 14:00.
I saw a bunch of people outside when I got there. Some were leaving, others were shouting some of the most colourful Maltese swearing I have ever heard, and I’m a 29-year-old Maltese guy. While I was taking this photo, a couple came with a baby and the husband also started swearing. As I was exiting the area, I passed by Identita’ again and saw yet more people arrive and express disappointment.
So many people were let down by this d*ck move today. I’m p*ssed off. I tried to do a bunch of errands on my day off today and had no other errands anywhere near Marsa. Took such a detour for this on my day off. Thanks a lot.

I do feel the frustration, but before visiting ANY public entity in Malta, you should make it a priority to check their Facebook pages before. They posted on the 16th of March that they’ll be closed today, tomorrow and Friday. It’ll save you a lot of frustration in the future.
Ive learnt to always call and ask if they are open (or if something is in stock if it’s a shop) before leaving the house as I’ve been burnt one too many times by incompetence. I don’t even trust websites anymore as ‘ops forgot to update’ is a standard reply
The same happened to me when I came on Monday 9th February, the day before the public holiday. Identita are a bit lazy
To be honest their website says that they are closed and their Facebook page is also showing the same info
